Believe it or not, bath bombs are a relatively recent invention. They were first dreamed up in 1989 and were originally called “Aqua Sizzlers.” We think the name “bath bombs” is way better. Bath bombs consist of a weak acid, like the citric acid that comes from fruit, and a base, like baking soda, held together by an oil and pressed together into all sorts of shapes. Well, that’s the simplest recipe. At Daisy Encens, we add a few more all-natural ingredients to make really spa-worthy bath bombs. We include things like coconut oil and shea butter to nourish, soften, and moisturize skin. We mix in some muscle-soothing salts like magnesium sulfate and sodium chloride. We include a few non-toxic cleaning ingredients like sodium lauroyl glutamate and cocamide MEA. And we add an array of essential oils to give our bath bombs aromatherapeutic scents that deliver a range of benefits.
